JIGSAW Thornbury

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trustee with finance expertise to join the board of a thriving Thornbury charity which supports children/young people with additional needs/disabilities and their families. You will act as a critical friend, offering support to enable them to deliver their charitable purpose with maximum impact.

Detailed Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a volunteer trustee to join our thriving charity in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire, with the following charitable purpose: For the public benefit, the relief and education, of all children and young people with additional needs or disabilities, aged 0-25 years, and their families by the provision of therapeutic, educational, and stimulating activities, training and services. A JIGSAW Thornbury trustee acts as a critical friend, offering a balance of support and challenge to enable us to deliver our charitable purpose with as much impact as possible. The role sits as part of a board of trustees who have accountability for achieving our charitable purpose and ensuring all resources are allocated appropriately to ensure sustainability. The board is supported and advised by the CEO, management team and expert friends, so that the best decisions can be made for the charity. Each trustee brings unique skills and experience to the board ensuring good governance and strategic focus. Skills audits are often carried out within the board and there is need of a trustee with finance expertise to replace an existing trustee who is coming to the end of their term. One trustee term is 3 years, at which point trustees must be re-elected. Three consecutive terms can be served without a break. Skills and experience Strong leadership skills and experience. The ability to consider risks, costs and benefits to make strategic decisions. The ability to work as part of a team and contribute during trustee meetings. A good understanding of the charitable purpose and passion for delivering this. Ability to work in a way that exemplifies the charity’s values. No prior experience of being a trustee or sitting on boards is required, an induction will be provided.
