Length Persons patrol a designated canal stretch at least every two weeks, inspecting water levels, leaks, towpaths, obstructions, litter, overhanging vegetation and boundary fences. They report issues to coordinators, maintain tools, and act as local ambassadors. Volunteers provide guidance, local knowledge, and support canal upkeep, helping ensure a safe, well-maintained, and welcoming environment while supporting the broader restoration effort.

Enthusiastic and passionate about the canal and its preservation. Familiarity with the canal route is helpful. A friendly approach to visitors and the willingness to encourage them to become members. Ability to work independently or with a partner, especially for female volunteers who may prefer not to work alone.
