CCT - Construction and Maintenance Volunteers - Western Depot

Renovate and maintain locks, waterways, and towpaths, supporting canal restoration and upkeep.

Detailed Description

Join our renovation and maintenance teams to help restore the Cotswold Canals. Volunteers work across Phase 1 (Saul to Brimscombe) on tasks including rebuilding locks, maintaining spill weirs, sluices, bridges, barriers, and towpaths. Support mechanical, civil, and electrical projects, repair equipment, vehicles, and boats, and install benches or canal-side features. Gain practical skills in construction, woodworking, and welding while making a visible impact. All experience levels welcome - help keep the canal safe, functional, and welcoming for the community.

Why these skills are required

Ability to work well in a team and collaborate effectively with others. Willingness to tackle a broad range of tasks, both technical and hands-on, with an enthusiastic and positive attitude. General DIY skills, including basic knowledge of painting and minor repairs. Physical fitness and a willingness to perform manual labour outdoors, regardless of weather. General construction and bricklaying experience is beneficial for infrastructure projects. Experience in workshop tasks such as welding, machining, or working with hydraulic or small engines equipment is helpful. Experience in general DIY (e.g., woodworking, painting, basic repairs). Heavy machinery operation, particularly with earth-moving equipment and excavators.
