One Million Bags is a fast-growing, community-driven movement encouraging people to get outdoors, get active, and give back by collecting one million bags of litter. Featured on BBC Morning Live, BBC Points West, and highlighted by councils and community organisations across the UK, the challenge is simple. No specific skills are required. Volunteers simply need a positive attitude and a willingness to help keep our community clean. Full guidance is provided, and all activities can be done at your own pace. Suitable for individuals, families, beginners, and young people completing volunteering awards.

You’ll be part of the One Million Bags movement, featured on BBC Morning Live and BBC Points West, helping create cleaner, safer spaces for everyone. It’s a great way to stay active, boost wellbeing, gain volunteering experience, and contribute to something bigger.
Volunteers can take part at any time that suits them. Even 15–30 minutes a week makes a real difference. There is no fixed schedule, choose any morning, afternoon, or evening and litter pick in your local area at your own pace. Ideal for busy people, families and DofE students who need flexible hours.

This role is available across Thornbury, Alveston, Bradley Stoke, Yate, Patchway, Filton, and all surrounding South Gloucestershire areas. Volunteers can litter pick in any local park, street, green space, or neighbourhood that suits them.
As this is a flexible volunteering role, volunteers can take part in any local area that is convenient for them. No travel is required, simply choose a nearby street, park, footpath, or green space and get started.
