Lead Year 6 pupils through hands-on safety scenarios, helping them spot risks and make safer choices
Become a Lifeskills Volunteer Guide and help bring safety to life for Year 6 children. You’ll lead small groups through immersive, hands-on safety scenarios such as road, home, and railway safety, encouraging children to spot hazards and make safer choices. Using scripts, props, and sound effects, you’ll guide discussions and support children practising 999 calls. Full training is provided, sessions last 2 hours, and you’ll be supported by a friendly team while making a real, lasting impact.

You don’t need formal teaching experience—what matters most are your people skills and enthusiasm. Useful skills include: Clear communication – explaining safety messages in a way Year 6 children understand Confidence and enthusiasm – engaging children and bringing scenarios to life Approachability and warmth – helping children feel safe, welcome, and supported Listening skills – encouraging discussion and responding to children’s ideas Patience and empathy – supporting different learning styles and abilities

You’ll feel valued as part of a friendly community, gain meaningful experience, and make a lasting impact by helping children learn life-saving safety skills.
Term Time Only. Flexible weekday sessions: mornings 9:45am–11:45am, afternoons 12:45pm–2:45pm. Volunteers can choose which session suit them on a week to week basis.

4th Floor The Create Centre Smeaton Road Bristol
The Create Centre is in one of the three large red brick warehouses in Cumberland Basin, halfway between Clifton Suspension Bridge and the SS Great Britain. The m2 serves Long Ashton Park & Ride, Ashton Vale, Ashton Gate, Cumberland Basin, Spike Island, Redcliff Hill, Temple Meads, Cabot Circus and Broadmead. The 505 Wessex Connect bus stops at Merchants Road, Hotwells. This service runs from Southmead to Bower Ashton via Redland, Clifton and Hotwells. A number of out of town bus services run regularly from Broadmead bus station and the city centre along Hotwells Road, stopping just before Junction Lock Bridge, marked by the red dot above. Buses that stop here are the 71, 505, 903, Portway Park & Ride, X1 all the way through to X9, including X3A, and X54.
