Volunteers would need to be friendly, empathetic to the needs of the day centre members, but enthusiastic in encouraging them to engage in activities. We welcome volunteers who can introduce new activities if they have skills/interests/hobbies that are not currently covered in the centres.
The Day Centres are a joyous place to be and our volunteers get an enormous sense of fulfilment from being a part of the community. You will spend time with a range of members with different backgrounds, interests and needs, spending time getting to know individuals as well as helping to hold activities in groups. We are able to pay travel expenses where needed and you will have the opportunity to attend further training in safeguarding and dementia.
Our centres are open from 9:30-3:30 but you do not need to volunteer for a whole day - we also welcome volunteers who may only be able to attend for part of the day.
