School Governor at Two Bridges Academy, Alveston
Enable Trust
School Governor to support the school leadership team
Two Bridges is a brand new, state of the art, Special School for children with severe, or profound and multiple learning disabilities (SLD and PMLD). We currently have 40 pupils and students but will grow to 120 by September 2026. We have brought together local people and experienced Governors from our other schools to support the school leaders as they navigate this first year of opening. Governors attend meetings once a term (6 times a year) to hear reports and review data from the Head Teacher and visit the school at least twice a year to monitor the school's standards.

Evaluating & Reviewing
Governors are not specialists in education but bring the skills they have from home and workplace to the school setting. They need to be willing to learn and ask questions and review the information presented to them and ask those important questions i.e. ' what are the next steps' , 'what are we doing about this', 'how does this compare to other schools'.
Knowing that we are helping the most vulnerable children in society is reward in itself, but Governor work develops team building and analysis skills.
6 x 2hr meetings an academic year plus at least two meetings in school a year for monitoring. We encourage Governors to become involved in school life i.e. come along to the Christmas fair.
