Detailed Description

Manorbrook is an expanding school which currently has 263 pupils from a variety of family backgrounds. The Governing Body aims to ensure that children are attending a successful school which provides them with an excellent education and supports their well-being and the school’s core values of Respect, Responsibility & Resilience. We pride ourselves on developing close links with parents, volunteers and the wider community, for the benefit of the children. Being a school governor is an important and interesting role, and you would be joining an enthusiastic and welcoming governing body.

Why these skills are required

Skills description: The Governing Body consists of parent representatives, some members of staff and a group of people from the community (including people with no background in education) who bring their skills from the workplace and life experience, and are all committed to helping the school to function effectively and smoothly. Basic IT skills will be needed to use a school email account and to review information that will be presented & discussed at meetings. New governor induction training will be provided along with other optional training opportunities throughout the year.

Time Commitment

6 Full Governing Body meetings an academic year (one per term) at 5pm on a Monday, lasting approx 1.5 hrs. There is also the option to join a committee which meets once per term. Approx. 2 x 1 hr visits to school a year for monitoring.
